The hotel check-in time is 2pm. There is a luggage area at the hotel if you arrive too early to check-in. Departure time is 11am during weekdays and 12pm at the weekend.

Travel Airport Information:

  • TAXI: available immediately outside the Arrivals terminal, Fee is on average £17 to city centre, £25 to Scottish Executive headquarters
  • BUS: Lothian Bus No. 100, Fee is £3.50 single, £5.00 return: drop off point in city centre is Waverley Station or you can ask to be dropped off in the west end (Haymarket Station) or Princes Street. Taxi from Waverley Station to Scottish Executive headquarters is approximately £8.00.

Events and Excursions

Sunday 3rd

A coach will pick up attendees from the Holiday Inn Express at 11.30am on Sunday and meet with Ian Leith and Lucy Sheppard of CEH Edinburgh at the Howgate Inn, Midlothian for lunch. There will then be a trip lasting approximately 1 hour to Whim Bog. You should be back at the hotel for around about 4pm. A list of attendees can be found here.

Monday 4th

To check whether or not you are signed up for the Monday evening meal at Howies please click here. You will be asked to make your choice after registration on Monday morning. The meal will be preceded by a tour of Edinburgh Old Town - it's called a ghost tour but shouldn't be too scary. Click here for further details! A coach will pick those going on the evening excursion from either Victoria Quay at 6.45pm or from the Holiday Inn Express at 6.55pm. The tour starts at 7.30pm and the meal starts at 8.30pm - further details will be available on Monday morning.
